Bacon, Crab and Green Beans
Here is a simple recipe inspired by the fact that I like all the ingredients separately. I mean who doesn’t like bacon, crab, and green beans? If you are following a low carb diet of some sort, this fits right in there as well.
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins max
Total: 20 min
Here are the ingredients. Please be aware that I am at a minimum a quarter Cajun, so I rarely measure anything I make unless I’m baking.
Before you start pulling this out of your fridge put your oven on broil.
1 lb green beans (I buy them in the bag pre-washed and trimmed)
2-4 slices of bacon cut in half – depends on how much of this type of fat you want in your diet. Use turkey bacon if you want.
½ cup of red onions
8 oz of fresh real crab meat – I used a container of the shelled crab meat. I do not pay for the lump crab meat but I buy the pieces. You can find it in your seafood section at the grocery store. I live on the Gulf Coast, so this is always in my local store.
Salt and Pepper to taste
Layer ingredients in a baking dish:
1. First spray the inside of the dish with cooking spray. Then add the green beans intermingled with the onions and sprinkled with salt and pepper.
2. Next, is two slices of bacon spread of the top of the beans.
3. Your next layer is the crab meat. Place the meat evenly over the beans. Finish with at least one more slice of bacon.
4. Place your dish in the oven and broil for about 5 – 10 min. Use a longer cooking time if you like your beans less crunchy. If you cook it longer than 5 min., I advise placing some foil over it to prevent the bacon from burning. As you can see, some of my bacon got too crispy in my finished product. You have to watch it.
